Anybody that has ever went to college knows that the first semester can be a total reality check. There are a lot of differences between college and high school and although people warn us no one really believes them in until it is too late. If i could go back to my freshman year of college here are five things that I wish I would have known.
1.They were right when they said it was going to be hard.
In college the essays are longer, homework is harder, nights are longer, and the tests are tougher. If you think that you can go through college without pulling at least a few all nighters working on homework, think again. Although it’s hard and it will be a bumpy road, it is all worth it. So just hang in there!
2.It is ok to go out and have fun with friends!
Everyone needs a break every now and then, college is hard work, so make time to go out every once in a while. Hanging out with friends for a few hours will not hurt. Just make sure you have all of your homework done and go have fun!
3. A few bad grades are not the end of the world.
When they say C’s get degrees they were not lying. Even though everyone should strive for good grades, getting a few bad ones are not the end of the world. Just brush it off, learn from your mistakes, and do better the next time.
4. Coffee is life!
Coffee is key. The late nights and early mornings can all be so much better with a cup of coffee. It is an essential to have in your dorm at all times. You never know when your going to have to stay up all night studying or writing an essay and when those 8am’s come rolling around you have to make sure you are awake and ready to learn.
